Ashtorre Rock is a registered charity originating back in 1991, serving the community and supported by local volunteers. This is the first building located in Cornwall, as it sits directly under the Brunel Bridge over the River Tamar. Originally this building was only a single storey; however, after ten years of continuous fund raising a first floor extension was added with a balcony providing spectacular views across the river.
The reason for adding a first floor extension is to provide function facilities for the local community and clubs to hire. Within the planning application there was a need for a vertical platform lift for access by wheelchairs, pushchairs and people with limited mobility. Ability Lifts were contacted by a local reputable lift company to arrive at a solution to fit a platform lift within a restricted space. After consideration we identified the best solution was our premium product the Optimum 100 Platform Lift with a special footprint size and door arrangement.
Having agreed the lift configuration/specification we subsequently became aware of a further complication as there were three steps immediately adjacent to the side of the lift preventing access to the control cabinet. Once again we found a suitable solution that worked within these limitations, which was accepted and led to successful installation of our Optimum 100 Platform Lift.
