Heckington Parish Chambers – Access for all
Heckington village is situated in the beautiful rural country side of Lincolnshire close to the Wash with population of over 4000 residents.
Responsibility for the maintenance of the village is the parish council who oversee the area from the newly renovated offices at the council chambers on St Andrews Street.
Renovations a few years ago saw the building modernised with an area set aside for a new public access lift to the upper floors to be installed once funding had been received.
Several lift companies were approached via tender and Ability Lifts of Sheffield were chosen as a result of guidance provided and a competitive bid.
The requirement was unusual as the ground floor entrance is actually on the outside of the building with the upper level being in the meeting room.
Optimum 100 platform lift was selected as the product most suitable and a marine style treatment applied to the external door to ensure that the condition remains unaffected by the elements. Further security was then provided by a key switch system and a roller shutter security door supplied by a local contractor.
The ground floor meetings rooms can now be accessed by everyone from outside of the building without having to enter the ground floor offices.
