Lift for new Burton Albion Football Centre
The ribbon has just been cut on the Football Foundation Burton Albion Community Football Centre by Nigel Clough and Ben Robinson. This £1 million centre is attached to the Pirelli Stadium to support education and training provided by the club’s charity arm, and offers a new range of facilities for the community.
As a part of the project, the building required a platform lift with travel of just over three metres within the training facility. Working with local Burton builders, Kestral Building Services Limited, Ability Lifts were contacted for their expert advice on the most suitable lift, and their Optimum 100 platform lift was chosen, as it’s self supporting shaft was ideal for a rapid installation with minimal builders work.
The lift was designed and manufactured with a bespoke footprint of 1250 x 1530mm to fit the existing space. Due to the configuration of the building, the doors of the lift were fitted on the long side of the shaft, and to aid access, were specified at one metre wide.
The lift was designed with glazed doors in a contrasting colour to the shaft. A grey colour was chosen to match the colour scheme of the building. The lift was installed and fully working in just 2 days with minimum disruption to the users of the centre.
