Working in partnership with Tewkesbury Borough Council, Places for People recently opened a brand new, state of the art leisure centre in the riverside town of Tewkesbury. The leisure centre has been designed to provide recreational facilities for the surrounding community, and includes two swimming pools, a gym, fitness studios, swim shop and cafe.
Ability Lifts were contacted by Wilmott Dixon for their platform lift expertise and recommendations for a new two level platform lift at the Leisure Centre. After an on site visit to discuss some value engineering points, an Optimum 100 platform lift travelling almost 5 metres with a Part M Compliant platform was recommended by Ability Lifts.
After a successful pre- contract meeting, Ability Lifts were given the order to supply and install the platform lift. The Optimum 100 not only offered excellent value for money, but also ease of the installation and minimal builder’s works required to facilitate the 1250mm x 1560mm shaft and the 60mm pit.
The finished platform lift included a glazed door at the upper level and a fire door with vision panel at the lower door, to provide an open and accessible lift space for use by all at the leisure centre.
