The Perfect Match at 1 Redcliff Street
1 Redcliff Street is a Landmark 13,000m2 14 storey office building situated on one of the main arterial routes through the heart of Bristol's central business district with easy access to the City and inner ring road. Built in 1964 it remains one of the tallest buildings in Bristol and has been completely refurbished, whilst occupied, with all new building services installations over a number of phases spanning 8 years.
One of the final additions to the building was a fully glazed Optimum 100 platform lift to travel from the ground floor to the first for the sole use of the first floor occupants.
As the existing atrium was fully glazed and still framed in the original colour the platform lift needed to be chosen carefully.
The Optimum 100 was a perfect choice, fully glazed on all four sides and finished in an RAL colour to match the existing windows and entrance area, a 60mm ramp was used for entry to the lift as a pit wasn’t possible at this stage in the refurbishment.
The design is further complimented by an internal finish that includes a stainless steel platform console, ceiling down lighters and a black coin patter non slip floor.
The installation of the Optimum 100 required little in the way of building works with the builder only having to provide a 10a single phase electrical supply and the cutting back and then making good the banister rails at the upper level.
Ability Lifts even overcame the problem of a low ceiling height to ensure that disruption was kept to a minimum.
The Optimum 100 is a high quality, reliable, chain driven vertical platform lift that is supplied complete with its own small footprint enclosure. This is a self-supporting platform lift which will enhance the value of any building Installation costs are kept to a minimum ensuring excellent value with a low ownership cost. The 0.55kw energy efficient motor uses 75% less energy than other models of platform lifts.
Optimum 100 is compliant with Part M of the Building Regulations and is built to comply with EN81-41 and MD 2006 /42/EC
