The Oasis provides self catering accommodation for students and is centrally located in Bournemouth to serve the local university. Following a recent change in ownership the accommodation was completely refurbished to improve the facilities of the building, which included a student activity centre plus a requirement for an internal vertical platform lift to access the accommodation level on the top floor.
The client was looking for a fully DDA compliant platform lift to provide suitable access, with a robust design, serving 2 levels and a travel height of 5.4m, which in many instances would require a structural wall to support the lifting drive system. However, due to the benefit of our unique self-supporting structure with a contained dual chain guided drive system and modular construction, we were able to provide our premium Optimum 100 vertical platform lift. for this project.
Due to the existing layout of the building the lift was configured with an “open adjacent “ arrangement, with a 1 metre wide door at the lower landing.
