Platform lift for Ruddocks of Lincoln
Ruddocks of Lincoln is one of Lincoln’s oldest businesses. The store was run on a single level after the owner removed the existing staircase in the 1980s. The first floor of the building originally consisted of an 18th century drawing room.
The store has recently undertaken a £250,000 expansion. Henry Ruddock, who has owned the family business since 1997, said “we are trying to create a pleasant atmosphere and putting in the old style of staircase will add to the ambiance, My father took it out because he thought people wouldn’t go upstairs and reduced the shop to just the ground floor,” added Mr Ruddock. “At this moment I think we need to make the best use of the whole building.”
To provide access to the first floor, a staircase had to be reinstalled whilst keeping to the character of the building, alongside this, it was also crucial to provide easier access for the less able. With only limited space available, the solution chosen was the Optimum 100 Platform Lift, glazed on 3 of the 4 sides (glazing is available for all 4 sides) the Optimum 100 platform lift blended well with the interiors clean but traditional lines.
