Established in 1980 Nationwide Retail Systems of Barnsley is a ‘One Stop Shop’ solution provider supplying the very best hardware, software and ongoing support for a range of cash management systems for schools and hospitality establishments.
Their Trust-e Cashless Catering system has been selected as a preferred solution by many local authorities throughout the UK enabling pupils and staff to pay for meals without handling cash at point of service.
Demonstration and presentation of this equipment is key to their ongoing customer support which led them to Ability Lifts Ltd, the Sheffield based platform lift provider, with an unusual access requirement.
The presentation equipment is carried in wheeled travel suitcases similar to the ones we all use these days but Nationwide needed a safe means of moving these cases, along with the person responsible, from the upper floor of their offices.
The additional problem was that the only available space would be in the reception area to the landing above. Space was therefore at a premium and a stylish and suitable platform lift would be required.
After careful consideration Optimum 500 was selected to do the job. Having the smallest possible footprint Optimum 500 also has the class leading guided chain drive system that allows the lift to be glazed on all four sides of the self supported lift structure. Added to this the client chose a RAL colour that exactly matches the colour scheme of the reception area and the result is a platform lift that looks like it has always been there and able to move a load of 400kg.

This is of course true but there are many reasons why people cannot manage to safely climb staircases and we have been delighted to work with Nationwide to provide a solution for them’
