Originally pioneered in Sheffield at the Concord Sports Centre the GP referral scheme has transformed the lives many local people by providing cardio fitness recovery programmes locally.
The scheme is now offered at many sports venues throughout the city and provides worthwhile assistance to those regaining fitness after major illness.
Backed by the Sheffield City Trust provision is made for sports and leisure activities for everyone in the city and at Concord major investment has been made to upgrade and develop these important facilities.
The refurbishment of the Concord Fitness Unlimited Gym has transformed the building with a ground floor installation of a dedicated functional training area and new state of the art cardio equipment on the first floor comprising treadmills, bikes and virtual training programmes.
A new staircase and an enclosed platform lift supplied by local company, Ability Lifts, complete the refurbishment.
Stylish, self supported and partially glazed Optimum 100 platform lift was installed and handed over in less than two days and provides a very efficient access solution for those unable to manage the staircase.
