Ability Lifts are banking on a good future
When a group of Rochdale tradesmen grouped together in 1844, history was made. The Co‑operative Movement was formed and a business driven by the desire to offer a fairer, ethical approach to business was born and 28 years later the Co‑operative Bank was founded with this vision at its core and still guides the Co-op work today, 145 years on.
It was important to maintain a central public presence located in Manchester for the Co-op Bank on Cross Street with the criteria to ensure all customers could use the bank.
However before entering the bank a series of 5 marbled steps in a convex shape flanked by ornate solid concrete pillars needed to be negotiated, previously this was done by a curved platform lift, now old and beyond repair.
Without the steps to the front, the refurbishment of the building for ADM Services Ltd, would have been straight forward for the company, who pride themselves on providing complete solutions regarding all aspects of construction, incorporating design and construction for minor and major new build projects working regionally and nationally with many large blue chip companies with Co-op being one of their many retained key accounts.
As a result Ability Lifts Limited, specialists in the supply and installation of Platform Lifts, were called to survey and provide a solution with the main criteria to offer a unit which would be similar to the existing in colour and design, with a style that did not dominate the front entrance and be easy to use, ensuring customers requiring assistance in to the bank, could do so with confidence and minimum amount of inconvenience.
The Ability Lifts Optimum 200c was selected and ordered. Its well engineered design combining elegance with functionality whilst still meeting the requirements from site including the top stainless steel high quality rail which doubles as a handrail as it is grease free.
The motor which is integrated superbly into a very slim lift design combines with the other items provided as standard such as Auto safety bars and loading ramps, digital and audible indication and non slip platform finish to make help combine elegance and functionality.
When visiting the site, the staff commented that the lift had offered the complete solution and reassurance to them to ensure customers requiring assistance to overcome the 5 steps could do so without inconvenience.
